Southern Sausage Cornbread Dressing (How to Win Thanksgiving)

Isn't this simply stunning? Wait until you taste it. Flavored with fresh sage, love this Southern Sausage Cornbread Dressing

Pretty sure wars have been waged about Thanksgiving Dressing vs Thanksgiving Stuffing. Where I’m from, it is always a hearty cornbread dressing that wins. We don’t stuff it in anything, ya’ll. We just serve it along all the other delicious holiday recipes. I have to admit, my recipe for Southern Sage Cornbread Dressing is just a little different.

First of all, we put sausage in it. For no other reason than the fact that I love sage-seasoned sausage.

But my favorite part? I haven’t decided yet, but I’ve narrowed it down to either the toasted cubes of buttermilk cornbread or the fresh sage. Our version of cornbread dressing smells and tastes amazing.

Mountain Dew Apple Dumplings

Mountain Dew Apple Dumplings

The first time I tried Mountain Dew Apple Dumplings was a few months ago when my lovely and talented step-daughter made them for the whole family.

(Have I mentioned how much I like it when the kids cook for me? No? Let me say it again. Maybe my children will see it. I ♥ WHEN THE KIDS COOK!)

And now there’s no turning back. WOW. Now she makes them for us just about every time we see her.

Hands down this easy dessert recipe is in my Top 10 Favorite Desserts.  Unbelievably delicious and only takes a few minutes to make. Gooey and warm like apple pie on the inside with a sugary-cinnamon flaky dumpling crust….*wipes drool off of the computer screen*

p.s. these are also excellent for weekend breakfast.

Candied Sugar Orange Peel

Candied Sugar Orange Peel

Candied Sugar Orange Peel is so delicious. You get the very slight bitterness of orange, then the tangy tart of orange flavor, the sweetness of the candied syrup, and the crystallized sugar coating.

I’ve had candied orange before dipped in dark chocolate (to die for). I also remember having these as a child.

Recently I made a recipe featuring fresh oranges, and thought to make these using the leftover peelings. You have to try them, you’ll feel very “Food Network” about yourself. 🙂
