In our family, we grill a lot. One of my favorite things is creating my own marinades, rubs, and sauces to go along with whatever we are grilling. For example, this super tasty Soy Lime Pork Tenderloin and Marinade. With only a few ingredients, this flavor-packed marinade recipe takes your grilling to the next level. Soy Lime Pork Tenderloin + Marinade

In case you need a reason to fire up your grill, we’ve created a super easy and delicious recipe for you to try. Featuring a tangy-savory homemade soy lime marinade, this grilled pork recipe is a hit.

You can also use this marinade recipe on your favorite cuts of chicken and beef. Whip up a batch, marinate, then grill. It is that easy.

The base of our soy lime marinade recipe is Mazola Corn Oil. Mazola Corn Oil is a heart-healthy* cooking oil and creates marinades that make great-tasting food because it has a neutral taste that lets the natural flavor of your food stand out.​ Mazola has a high smoke point (450˚ F), great for grilling at high temperatures. Plus, it is a great all-around oil to have in your pantry. We use it for sauteeing, stir frying, sauces, baking and so much more.

Ingredients Needed to Make Soy Lime Marinade:

  • Mazola Corn Oil
  • Soy sauce
  • Fresh limes – The juice and the zest.
  • Garlic – We used 6 cloves, you do you.
  • Brown sugar – Just a touch. You can also use honey.
  • Spices – Keep reading to learn what we used.

Yes. That’s it! Told you this was an easy marinade.

This recipe uses equal portions of Mazola Corn Oil and soy sauce to start with. You can use light or dark soy sauce, or even the low-sodium version. The choice is totally up to you.

Fresh limes will give you the best flavor. If you can’t find them, bottled lime juice will work in a pinch. Not only does the lime juice give the marinade that zingy flavor, it also helps tenderize the pork. For this recipe, we used the juice of two limes plus the zest of one lime.

TIP: Don’t skip the zest. It adds that extra “ooomph” of lime.

To balance out the soy and lime flavors, we added a tablespoon of brown sugar. You can also use honey as a sweetener if you prefer. I like to taste the marinade and adjust the sweetness to my personal taste.

For the spices, we used aromatic Chinese 5-Spice. We had a bottle in our pantry from a previous recipe and the blend is perfect fro this soy lime pork tenderloin.

If you do not have Chinese 5-Spice, don’t worry. You can mix or match! Here are other options to you can use based on what is in your pantry:

  • Ground coriander
  • Onion powder
  • Ginger powder
  • Cinnamon – Just a touch.
  • Pepper
  • Cardamom
  • Anise
  • Chili powder
  • Cumin

How to Make Soy Lime Pork Tenderloin:

  1. In a shallow dish (large enough to hold the pork) stir together the Mazola Corn Oil and soy sauce.
  2. Zest one lime. Juice two limes. Add the zest and juice to the mixture.
  3. Add 6 cloves of pressed (or very finely minced) garlic.
  4. Whisk in the brown sugar and Chinese 5 spice (or whatever spices you are using) until well-combined.
  5. Add the pork tenderloin (or protein of choice) to the marinade. Turn to coat all sides.
  6. Cover tightly (with a lid, plastic wrap, or foil). Refrigerate for at least 3 hours up to overnight.

How to Grill Marinated Pork Tenderloin:

  1. When you are ready to grill, preheat your grill to high heat (between 400 and 450 degrees Fahrenheit).
  2. Remove the marinated pork tenderloin from the marinade. Shake to remove any excess marinade. Remove any large bits of zest or garlic so they don’t burn and cause a bitter taste.
  3. Place the tenderloin on the grill. Sear for 2 to 3 minutes on all sides, turning to rotate. Keep the grill lid closed between rotations.
  4. Continue to sear and rotate until the pork has reached an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit.
  5. Transfer the pork to a platter, cover loosely with foil, and rest for 10 minutes.
  6. Slice and serve!

  • Mazola Corn Oil is a perfect oil to use when creating your marinades and sauces. The flavor is light and does not alter the taste of your ingredients….which is SO important in this soy lime marinade.
  • Fresh limes are best!
  • Love garlic? Go for it with 6 loves. To maximize that yummy garlic richness, use a garlic press. Not a fan of garlic, use 2 cloves.
  • Out of brown sugar? Substitute honey.
  • Mix and match your own pantry spices to create your own unique soy-lime marinade. (Scroll up to see our recommendations.)
  • Try this marinade on chicken thighs, pork chops, steak, and more.
  • This recipe can also be marinated using a vacuum food sealer. Just mix up the marinade to instructions and pour it into the bag with your pork before sealing.
  • Start with a clean, well-oiled grill. Heat the grill to temperature before starting.
  • Grill to an internal temperature of 145 degrees for pork. (FDA guidelines!). Turn and rotate the tenderloin often to ensure even cooking.
  • Let the meat REST before serving. This step allows the pork to finish cooking and locks in all those savory juies.
