Rum + Peach Sangria - Enjoy the Fruits of Your Labor!

This easy sparkling wine punch captures the flavors of late summer, but it is totally ok to sip it year round. Go ahead, indulge. You deserve it.

I'm thinking back porch sitting, sunset watching. This is what I want in my cup.

Ingredients Needed for this Summer Sangria:

    • Dry red wine or wine blend (750 ml)
    • White rum
    • Peach nectar - OR- Pineapple juice
    • Peaches
    • Plum
    • Orange
    • Lemon
    • Blackberries
    • Lemon-lime soda or sparkling water
    • Ice

This drink recipe is easy to make and even easier to drink. Full of bold red wine, pineapple juice, and fresh fruit, you might want to make a double batch. Use local fruit that is in season for the freshest summer flavor. Our picks were sweet plums, ripe peaches, peak blackberries, and citrus.

Tip: Chill the wine and juice before preparing for a refreshing treat. For the ultimate fruit flavor, soak the fruit in the wine, rum, and juice for at least an hour before adding the carbonated beverage.

    How to Make Summer Sangria:

    1. In a gallon pitcher, combine wine, rum and peach nectar - OR- pineapple juice.
    2. Slice the orange, lemon, peaches, and plum. Add to the wine mixture. Drop in the blackberries and stir gently to combine. Let fruit stand in the wine mixture for at least one hour for maximum fruit flavor.
    3. Before serving, slowly stir in enough lemon-lime soda or sparkling water to fill to a gallon.
    4. Serve over ice.

Our summer sangria is smooth and sweet, bursting with flavor. There are four basic components to sangria. Once you master the combination the possibilities are endless. Note: Due to variations in wine, fruit, juice and personal taste, added sugar is optional. This recipe uses no added sugar.

    • The Wine – Traditional sangria is made from dry Spanish wine, but feel free to use your favorite. We recommend looking for a dry red wine blend with fruity notes.
    • The Fruit – This sangria embodies summertime. Choose the freshest fruit in season. This time of year, plums, peaches, and blackberries are readily available in our area. What is more summer-happy than a ripe, juicy peach and rich blackberries? We also recommend using citrus for a burst of flavor. Plus, it highlights the flavors of the wine and fruit. One orange and one lemon were the perfect addition to this sangria.
    • The Booze – Sangria is a rich and heady drink, so you need to add a little more booze. Not too much, though. we suggest ½ cup per gallon of sangria. Use flavored liqueurs, brandy, or rum. To keep this on the light side use white rum.
    • The Mixer – Use fruit juice and a carbonated element to finish this Peach + Rum Summer Sangria recipe. Peach nectar or pineapple juice is a bright-sweet flavor addition. Pineapple makes everything better! For the fizz, lemon-lime soda does the trick. You can also use seltzer water or club soda if you prefer.

Isn’t it gorgeous? The color is bold and inviting plus the flavor is smooth and sweet. Make sure everyone gets wine-soaked fruit in their glass. That’s my favorite part. Serve in generous portions over ice. Enjoy your day off, one glass at a time.
