bag of 15 Bean Soup Dry Bean Mix
keep the seasoning packet!
or more of water, divided
can petite diced tomatoes
peeled and chopped
All purpose seasoning to taste
Rinse the beans well, then place in a large pot with 10 cups of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat. Cover and cook at a very low boil for 1 hour. Stir the beans frequently.
Stir in the remaining water, ham, tomatoes, onion, celery, garlic and hot sauce. Cover and simmer for 45 minutes or until the beans are tender.
Add the seasoning packet and season to taste with your favorite all purpose seasoning blend. We LOVE So-La Seasonings. Get the link in our blog post.
This makes excellent leftovers.
You can also add 1/2 cup of rice to this during the last 45 minutes. Just increase the amount of water by 1 cup or so.
