DIY Unicorn Sugar Scrub Recipe

This easy and kid-friendly activity requires just a few safe ingredients. Colored in pretty pastels, this sugar scrub is great for spa day at home, makes lovely homemade gifts and is fun in the tub.

  • 2 cups white granulated sugar divided
  • 3/4 cup coconut oil melted, divided
  • 12 drops essential oil divided
  • 2 drops food coloring divided

Cook That

  1. In a microwave-safe measuring cup or dish, microwave the coconut oil in 15 second increments, stirring each time, until it is completely melted. 

  2. Divide the sugar evenly in two separate bowls.

  3. To the first bowl, add one drop of pink food coloring and 6 drops of desired essential oil. 

  4. Pour half of the melted coconut oil over the top.

  5. Using a spoon, stir the mixture until the oil and color is evenly blended.

  6. Repeat steps 3-5 on the second bowl (blue).

  7. Layer the sugar in alternating colors in a clear, glass jar. Gently press each layer flat using the back side of the spoon. 

  8. Layer until the jar is full (pink, blue, pink, blue) and seal tightly until use.
