Amie Jo’s Easy Goulash Recipe
A classic recipe for American style goulash made with ground beef, macaroni and more.
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 2 TB olive or vegetable oil
- 1 tsp minced garlic
- 1 cup onion chopped
- 1 bell pepper chopped
- 1 small package mushrooms chopped (about 1 1/2 cups)
- 1 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
- 5 cups water
- 2 TB fresh parsley
- 2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp all purpose seasoning
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 1/2 cups dry macaroni pasta
In a large pot, heat garlic in oil over medium heat. When you start to smell it, add onion, pepper, and ground beef. Add salt, seasoning blend, and pepper.
Cook and stir the meat and vegetables until brown. Add mushrooms and paprika, and stir and cook for an additional 5 minutes until the mushrooms absorb the juices from the meat and are slightly soft.
Add tomatoes and water. Stir to combine. Increase heat to medium high and bring to a boil, stirring frequently.
Pour in the dry pasta, stir. Reduce heat to a low boil and cook for approximately 10 minutes. Lower to a simmer and cook an additional 10 - 15 minutes until flavors are blended and pasta is cooked through.
Add parsley, season more to taste, and serve.
