A rich + savory hot ham dip with caramelized onions, hot sauce, cream cheese and loads of cheese and onions. Serve with your favorite bread, chips or pita on gameday for the ultimate snack.
In a large cast iron skillet, cook the diced ham in 1 tablespoon of butter until browned. Set aside.
In the same skillet, slowly cook the onions in the remaining butter until soft and caramelized.
Over low heat, stir in the cream cheese until melted. Add the remaining ingredients, including the browned ham and green onions, and stir well to combine.
Place skillet into the oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes until heated and bubbly. Call the hogs, and serve warm with your favorite crackers or bread.
Notes
If you are not using a cast iron skillet, use an oven safe skillet. Or, transfer the dip to an 8x8 baking dish before baking.
